For now, I think it’s important to provide you with some basic information on how we do it so you can trust what you’re about to review.

Importantly, this is not a “pay to play” endeavor.  We do not accept payments of any kind in exchange for consideration or placement on this list. Simply put, every travel healthcare company is eligible for consideration by virtue of being a travel healthcare company. The only criteria for consideration is that we know they exist.

For each travel nursing company we can find, we enter the number of reviews and average review score from 5 popular review websites into a spreadsheet. Then, we calculate the aggregate average score. Next, we compare this year’s scores to last year’s scores. We assign bonuses for score increases or penalties for score decreases. Finally, we manually review the reviews to ensure quality and apply some minimum qualification criteria. Here are the five review sources we use:

Noteworthy Observations About the List of Best Travel Nursing Companies for 2026

As I mentioned above, this is the tenth consecutive year that we’ve published a list in this format. Each year, we compare the current data to the historical data. We also look for changes and trends. This was a particularly interesting year.

All Time Low Aggregate Average Score for All Companies

Perhaps the most interesting observation from this year’s list is that the aggregate average score for all companies combined was the lowest it’s been since we started calculating it in 2017. In fact, this aggregate average has been trending down since 2023. Interestingly, that was the year the COVID pandemic began its decline. Moreover, the aggregate average score saw it’s biggest 0ne year decline from 2023 to 2024, the year which marked a transition to the end of the COVID pandemic.

Travel Nursing Company Reviews are Disappearing

Last year, we noted that Facebook had cleaned up its reviews. Previously, it was riddled with review spam. We’re talking crypto, private equity loans, and other scams packing Facebook reviews. Facebook’s clean up led to us counting over 3,300 fewer total reviews from the platform last year compared to the previous year.

This year, the trend continued and broadened. We counted 286 fewer total reviews on Facebook and 3,930 fewer on Glassdoor. Moreover, 202 companies had fewer reviews on Glassdoor, 195 had fewer reviews on Google, 73 had fewer reviews on Facebook and 35 had fewer reviews on Indeed this year compared to last year.

This is most likely due to these platforms taking steps to remove spam reviews and/or fake reviews. However, it could also be because reviewers themselves removed reviews or cancelled their accounts with the services.

It’s important to note that we did count over 20,000 new total reviews this year compared to last year. Those came mostly from Indeed and Google. Moreover, companies that had fewer reviews this year compared to last still had newly submitted reviews from the current year. Basically, the reviews that the platforms removed were from years past.

Travel Nursing Central – The End of an Era?

When we collected reviews for this year’s list in May, 2026, TravelNursingCentral.com was a functioning website. However, it appeared to have no new reviews. We chose to incorporate the scores anyway.

Now, the website returns a “Connection Timeout” or “This site can’t be reached” error message. This indicates the website is no longer active. That said, it’s possible that the owners have taken the site down while revamping it. We’ll check back later. However, it seems likely that we’ll be dropping Travel Nursing Central reviews from our scoring matrix next year. This could have a profound impact on the overall results!

First, we enter the review counts and average scores for each review source into our spreadsheet, we’re ready to calculate the aggregate average score.

In doing so, we must convert all the scores to a common scoring scale.

Calculating the Aggregate Average Score for the Best Travel Nursing Companies

Next, we need to convert all the scores to a standard scoring scale. That’s because the review sources use three different scales between them. TNC and Facebook use a 100-point scale. The others use a 5-point scale.

So, we convert them all to a 100-point scale. Here is how that breaks down for FlexCare this year:

Next, we need to calculate the total number of reviews and the total value of all the reviews. Here is how that looks for FlexCare this year.

Next, we divide the total value of all the reviews by the total number of reviews. This gives us the aggregate average score.

Aggregate Difference Score for 2026

Now that we have the aggregate average score for 2026, we can calculate the aggregate difference score for 2026. The aggregate difference score simply compares this year’s aggregate average score to last year’s aggregate average score. Then, it awards a bonus for score increases and a penalty for score decreases if, and only if, the company’s scores meet the requirements.

Here are the requirements for the Aggregate Difference score:

 

FlexCare’s’s aggregate average score for 2026 was 89.67968818. Their aggregate average score for 2025 was 86.85703246. As you can see, their score in 2026 is higher than their score from 2025. Therefore, they will get a bonus.

To calculate the bonus, we simply subtract the score for 2025 from the score for 2026 (89.67968818 – 86.85703246 = 2.822655719). So, FlexCare’s’s aggregate difference score for 2026 is +2.822655719.

In case you’re wondering, all those decimal places do matter. For example, the number 1 and 2 companies on our list this year are separated by just 0.5 points and it’s often much closer than that!

Individual Difference Score for 2026

Next, we calculate the individual-difference score for each individual review source. As the name implies, we calculate the difference between this year’s score and last year’s score for each individual review source. Here again, the company can get bonuses or penalties depending on whether or not their score was higher or lower from one year to the next.

We choose to keep the exact scoring method and requirements for the individual-difference score private. We do this because copycat services have been trying to copy our methodology. That said, please contact us for all the details if you’re a traveler or agency who would like to learn more.

Minimum Requirements for the Best Travel Nursing Companies List

At this point, we have calculated the final scores. The only thing left to do is to check to make sure the companies meet the minimum requirements.

We don’t do this for all 450+ companies. Instead, we sort the companies from highest to lowest score. Then, we start at the top and work our way down to find the top 20 companies that meet all the qualifications.

First, the company must have minimum of 50 total reviews. Second, the company must have 15 reviews from healthcare professionals within the last year. These two qualifications work to ensure that we have a reasonable sample size.

Finally, we check for malicious fake reviews. We are looking specifically for fake reviews that the company might have solicited to game the system. There are many methods for determining this. We use them all. And, we have banned several companies from consideration over fake reviews!
