How Nomadicare Matches Travel Healthcare Professionals With Great Recruiters
The process of finding the perfect travel healthcare recruiter can be daunting. For starters, there are tons of different companies and recruiters. Moreover, different companies have access to different jobs. They also have different approaches to customer service and pay-packages. So, in this article, we’ll take a look at Nomadicare, a service designed to simplify the process by matching travel healthcare professionals with vetted recruiters based on fit.
The Catalyst for Nomadicare
Recruiters and travel healthcare companies are an integral part of a travel healthcare professional’s experience. They provide job access, housing, payroll, benefits, travel resources and a host of other services. As a result, travel healthcare professionals can have a disastrous experience when companies and/or recruiters fail to deliver.
Laura Latimer, the founder of Nomadicare, had such an experience in 2014. At the time, Laura had been working as a traveling Occupational Therapist for several years. Additionally, she had been working with an excellent recruiter. However, the realities of the travel healthcare job market required her to branch out and work with additional recruiters.
Unfortunately, the next recruiter she landed with fell far short of expectations. The recruiter didn’t communicate effectively, often failing to return calls and emails in a timely manner. When they did speak, the recruiter was unable to clearly articulate key issues, leaving Laura confused. Additionally, the recruiter had a knack for making Laura feel guilty. To top it all off, Laura ultimately wound up feeling underpaid once she started working the assignment.

That terrible experience was a real eye-opener for Laura. She realized she needed to gain a deeper understanding of the industry in order to prevent this from happening again. In the process, she discovered how complex it could be to find the perfect recruiter match.
The process ignited a passion in Laura to help travel healthcare professionals connect with great recruiters. As a result, she started Nomadicare, a free service that determines what travel healthcare professionals want out of a contract and then matches them with vetted recruiters who can meet their needs.
Nomadicare’s Recruiter Requirements
Nomadicare puts recruiters through a rigorous and strict vetting process. In fact, only 25% of recruiters who go through the process are accepted. First, Nomadicare requires companies to adhere to a set of pay package standards. This includes negotiated overtime (extra-time) rates, transparent pay quotes and higher rates on extension contracts if the original contract included a travel stipend.

In addition, Nomadicare ensures that recruiters maintain a high level of service related standards. For example, Nomadicare recruiters agree that they will never submit a healthcare professional for a job without the healthcare professional’s prior approval. Additionally, recruiters are required to provide pay packages prior submitting healthcare professionals for a job.
Nomadicare also vets recruiters based on their knowledge and ability to clearly convey complex information. Moreover, Nomadicare ensures that recruiters hustle at work and are highly responsive communicators. All Nomadicare recruiters are required to understand and support the fact that travelers work with multiple recruiters at the same time.
Determining Agency Fit
Nomadicare also collects various information about the company’s offerings. For example, they track the benefits that the agencies provide, including things like 401(k) and health benefits. They also determine where the agencies have the strongest hospital relationships. All of this helps them match healthcare professionals with the companies and recruiters that can best meet their needs.

Nomadicare’s Process for Travel Healthcare Professionals
For the healthcare professional, the process with Nomadicare starts by filling out a questionnaire. Essentially, you’ll enter various details regarding your experience, ideal job and the benefits you desire. You also have the option to provide Nomadicare with additional information that may be of importance to you. Additionally, Nomadicare encourages you to communicate with them throughout the process to ensure that all your questions are answered and needs addressed.

Next, Nomadicare reviews all the information and matches the healthcare professional with two recruiters. Matches are based on the recruiters’ ability to deliver the location the traveler wants and the benefits they need. The introduction takes place via email.
The email provides the traveler with a detailed bio for the recruiter. It also provides travelers with a breakdown of various benefits offered by the agency.
It’s important to note that Nomadicare does not otherwise release the healthcare professional’s contact information to additional parties.
Nomadicare encourages travelers to provide them with updates on the service their recruiters are providing. They want to make sure that the recruiters are performing as expected. If a recruiter is not performing as agreed, then Nomadicare can scale back the number of candidates they are sending to the recruiter or remove them from consideration.
Nomadicare’s “Dream Job Board”
Nomadicare also has a job search service. They call it “The Nomadicare Dream Job Board”. Travelers complete a form to provide Nomadicare with details regarding their dream job. Nomadicare reviews the information and posts it to the job board.
Nomadicare’s vetted recruiters will view the listings. If they see a listing they believe they can help with, then they will reach out to Nomadicare. The recruiter is required to provide Nomadicare with a full pay package. Nomadicare will review the pay package and the job listing and match the recruiter with the traveler if everything looks okay.

In return, the traveler agrees to work with Nomadicare’s vetted recruiter on landing this particular job. In other words, the traveler agrees that they will not shop these jobs with other recruiters they might be working with.
Nomadicare’s Information Resources
Nomadicare also offers tons of educational resources for travelers and recruiters alike. Nomadicare.com has some great articles and guides. They have some great video resources as well. And Laura has conducted some great webinars with some of the industry’s most respected experts.
Nomadicare’s Business Model
All of Nomadicare’s services are free for travel healthcare professionals. The company makes money by charging agencies a placement fee. The fee is paid only after the traveler has worked a specified number of hours for the agency.
Agencies are required to sign an agreement that the fees can only be paid out of the agency’s marketing budget. As a result, the traveler’s pay package is not negatively affected.
Nomadicare’s Training Service for Recruiters
In addition to the services they provide for travel healthcare professionals, Nomadicare also offers consulting services for healthcare staffing agencies. Specifically, Laura offers agencies a Two-Day Recruiter Training Workshop. As someone who serves as an intermediate between the parties during the entire process, Laura has a compass on what works and what does not. She offers to share that knowledge with recruiters so that they can excel and improve the industry as a whole.
Essentially, Nomadicare offers travel healthcare professionals a white-glove recruiter matching service. The company has received 27 reviews on Facebook. All of them 5 stars. They’re clearly delivering a service their users enjoy. Be sure to check them out if you’re in the market for a new recruiter!
